In celebration of Brit it-band Everything Everything’s debut album Man Alive, I wanted to share my favorite track Photoshop Handsome from the LP. The album was released August 30th in the UK (grab it here if you have a Great Britain iTunes) but we’ll have to wait a little longer in North America. This should really be a review of the album, however due to my spectacularly rotten reviewing abilities, I’ll talk about a few songs instead. Happy?

When compared to the chaotic MY KZ, UR BF, Photoshop Handsome is more in line with the rest of the album in the sense that it stays strong past the chorus. MY KZ, UR BF has a spectacular chorus but loses some of its power through out the final few versus. Grum did an excellent job cleaning it up (it has literally been on repeat for weeks) while James Rutledge plays with the original’s obscurity. You really need to check out both remixes, they are absolutely spectacular.

New Jamiroquai isn’t something you hear everyday. We got twice as lucky with their latest single (off of the upcoming LP Rock Dust Light Star) White Knuckle Ride as it got remixed by two 514blog favs, Monarchy and Penguin Prison. For good measure I’ve also included the Calvin Harris remix of Jamiroquai’s Canned Heat from about 2 years back. Check out the funk below.

Carte Blanche (Riton and DJ Mehdi) have hit it big with their debut EP Black Billionaires (check out Do! Do! Do! with Kid Sister) and remixes of Uffie + Pharell’s ADD SUV. They turned their attention to Chromeo’s latest single Don’t Turn The Lights On. Check out the banging (almost dub) on SoundCloud below. It’s the Aeroplane remix‘s electro cousin.

In a move that seems completely unexpected, Tiga takes on the XX’s Shelter. Tiga keeps the track beautiful and airy, similar to his LCD Soundsystem remix. I absolutely adore it, but then again Tiga could remix your mother and it would be fantastic. I love the XX.
