Like last season, the fall 2010 Dolce and Gabbana show ended with a parade of leggy models. This wasn’t the only similarity with spring however. Fall 2010 seemed like Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were continuing the ideas they started last spring. Last season’s lace, lingerie and Italianness were all present.
That being said the show still didn’t feel like a repetition. It was in no way groundbreaking, but that doesn’t seem to matter in a season where even the likes of Marc Jacobs and Miuccia Prada are prioritizing colthes to actually be worn instead of statements of the new. Dolce and Gabbana were playing on their strengths, the things that made them household names. Their signature tailoring was showcased, as well as sexy dresses.
The problem with Dolce and Gabbana over the past few years has been their lack of restraint. Not this season, however. The clothing didn’t feel theatrical or like the designers were trying to hard. It was just them doing what they do best.
