I know this is old news, as of a few hours ago, but M.I.A.’s essentially un-googlable album /\/\/\Y/\ leaked today. The only reviews I’ve read so far say that it’s noisy, and that Perez Hilton doesn’t like it. Sounds good to me. I’m obviously not going to find a RapidShare .rar file and share it with you, but for now check out Jay-Z’s remix of the single XXXO, which I actually really like btw. Oh, and here’s the N.E.E.T. cover of her album (out for real this July.)

XXXO (Remix Feat. Jay-Z) – M.I.A.

New summer jams for you guys. M.I.A. is out with a new track, XXXO, from her upcoming album /\/\/\Y/\ (named after herself, Maya but with Justice † flair.) It has a very different sound compared to the angsty Born Free, refreshing but I’m wondering when the real M.I.A. will come out. A controversial video perhaps? A-Trak’s second installment of Dirty South Dance is finished, according to the dj’s Twitter, and Don Diablo takes on The Chemical Brother’s brand new summer favorite, Swoon.

The latest issue of NME features 10 different covers from the likes of Rihanna, M.I.A, Foals, LCD Soundsystem, Florence & the Machine and Jack White who were all asked the question of the state of music today. Pedestrian Magazine posted a great summery of M.I.A’s response that you can check out below.

Finally! An EP we’ve all been waiting for. M.I.A.’s latest single, Paper Planes, has already started quite a bit of controversy with the censored music video, which in my opinion is ridiculous because MTV plays much worse content on television. Either way, it has remained one of my favorites off the album and these remixes don’t fail to impress. The DFA remix is on of my favorites, slower than the rest, in traditional DFA style. The Diplo remix is great also, I believe I posted it a while ago. The Scottie B remix is fun because it samples a bit of XR2 and adds some lyrics that aren’t in the original track. A bonus to this ep is an excellent remix of Bamboo Banga by DJ Eli who remixed Jimmy a while back. I’m not so sure that this song needed to be remixed, but its definitely worth the download.
